Steve Barker’s Outpost from 2008 is easily one the best nazi-zombie-horror-flicks ever made. It’s dark and nasty. Now the sequel is out, Outpost: Black Sun and I’m happy to say it was worth the wait. It departs from the original movie with being less horror and more action/adventure, which for me is just fine. The visual style is the same, gritty and dark, with rough characters behaving badly towards each other. Pretty violent, but not overly gory. But the first movie wasn’t a splatterfest either. The best thing is the story, the concept of living dead super-nazi-soldiers and the conspiracies surrounding this - and most import, that they make something serious about it. No twinkle in the eye here, and we should be grateful for that! Can’t wait for the prequel, Outpost: Rise of the Spetsnaz!
